Notes:
The amount of pizzas you can get from this dough recipe depends on the size. We can get 2 full sized pan pizzas.
It’s best to make this homemade pizza dough recipe ahead and let it rest in the fridge for about 8 hours but if you don’t have time, it’s perfectly okay. Most times I don’t think ahead and just let it rest on the counter before rolling it out while preparing the toppings.
I’ve been using this homemade pizza recipe ever since I inherited it from my mother in law 5 years ago. It makes a great stromboli, as well. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll let it rise in a warm, draft-less area. You can’t really go wrong. The only times it doesn’t work out is when I stretch the dough too thin. Then it starts to resemble phyllo dough.

Now on to the fun part!
While the dough is resting on the counter, prepare the fillings. The options are endless. Our 2 favorite pizzas to make are Meat lovers and Basil Pesto Pizza.

Deep Dish Pizza
For the first time I attempted a deep dish pizza! We recently got a cast iron skillet so I had to try it out. And it turned out surprisingly well! (Watch the video.)
I followed the same recipe and instructions, only I stretched the dough up the side of skillet. I was planning on pre-baking the crust but I forgot. Instead I baked it at 425° F for 30 minutes.
It baked through all the way!
I will definitely be making deep dish again.
Now, very important question. Do you cut your pizza in squares or triangles? When it comes to homemade pizza, we are squares. But for deep dish, we are triangles.
I hope you enjoy this homemade pizza recipe!
